I am a Finnish dance artist, choreographer, teacher, producer and mentor whose artistic practice is deeply rooted in the High North.
After returning to the North, where I was born, I have now worked extensively across the North crossing state borders for over 35 years, and I see the whole North as my working studio. My work extends across Northern Finland, Sweden and Norway, with long-standing connections to the wider Arctic region. I have devoted my career to bringing contemporary dance into diverse contexts and places, from stages and festivals to public spaces, nature, institutions and private homes, often through multidisciplinary and cross-border collaborations.
My practice is grounded in somatic approaches, improvisation and an embodied relationship with place, with the Skinner Releasing Technique playing a central role. Curiosity, play, presence and sustainable ways of moving through the world are at the heart of my work.
I have been recognised with several national awards for my artistic work and my contribution to bringing dance and contemporary art to less urbanised regions in North. I have worked professionally in the field since graduating with a Master of Dance Arts from the University of the Arts Helsinki 1991. I am certified Skinner Releasing Technique teacher on the Introductory level since 2011.
