Kirsty Alexander

Kirsty is a Glasgow based dancer, teacher, and mentor who has been a certified teacher of SRT for 25 years. She has taught  extensively in Higher Education and has advised on the development of new dance programmes both nationally and internationally.  Her PhD used her experience as a teacher and practitioner of SRT to argue for a rethink of the means/ends, dynamic that underpins “teaching” in mainstream school and university settings.  More recently she has focused on the ongoing development of professional dancers, including co-directing Independent Dance from 2015-18.  As a performer she has been lucky enough to work with a wide range of artists but has been most influenced by working with  Gaby Agis,  Kate Brown, Rosemary Butcher, Gill Clarke, Marina Collard and Carolyn Roy.  As a maker she usually works in collaboration with artists from other disciplines. After nearly 40 years in London she returned to Scotland in 2021.
