Eryn Dace Trudell MA. BFA. has experience in all aspects of dance creation from the idea to the stage and beyond. Her career includes choreography and commissions from distinguished companies in theatre and opera, interpreting the vision of gifted choreographers and the presentation of her own work. She also teaches and performs Contact Improvisor. As a mother since 2005, Eryn has been immersed in developing MamaDances (www.mamadances.com): a new dance modality including mothers dancing with their babies.
Her research investigates dance as a relational art and means of cultivating a sense of wholeness and wellness through the enhancement of kinaesthetic awareness, sensation and empathy; deepening connections to self, others and the environment, and contributing to quality of life for individuals and communities When we engage in practices that help us to feel connected through presence to sensation, we are cultivating our ability to love and be loved: to care and be cared for.
Eryn’s knowledge and skill are a consolidation of her formal training in ballet and modern dance at Juilliard, independent research in contemporary dance and somatic movement education, understanding of theories of Dance Movement Therapy and a pursuit of history and practice of folk dance, culturally specific dances, and dance as ritual.
